Collagen and hyaluronic acid
The vitreous body is made up of water (about 99%) and is rich in hyaluronic acid, produced by cells which are called hyalocytes. Collagen and hyaluronic acid constitute the organic fraction, with structural function, of the vitreous body. The collagen fibres are immersed in a matrix of hyaluronic acid, which allows a sufficient separation among them, so as to ensure adequate transparency. The structure of the vitreous gel, also due to oxidative stress, age, and/or particular conditions, can undergo some alterations (for example, the collagen fibres can come into contact and join each other), with a consequent loss of transparency and the formation of vitreous opacities. It is, therefore, very important to preserve the integrity of the relations between molecules of collagen and hyaluronic acid.
SOD B Extramel®
This is a melon extract rich in bioactive compounds, primarily Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), an antioxidant naturally present in the body. SOD is the only enzyme capable of inactivating the superoxide anion (O2-·), the main and most reactive free radical, providing the first line of defence against oxidative stress. The absence or dysregulation of SOD antioxidant activity in the vitreous can cause increased oxidative stress, leading to tissue damage. The microencapsulation technology of SOD B Extramel® protects its activity from the acidic environment of the stomach.
Cureit® Turmeric
Turmeric is a natural substance obtained from the dried rhizome of Curcuma longa, a perennial plant. Cureit® is a particular formulation of Curcuma longa extract based on a technological system (PNS) that allows achieving a significantly higher bioavailability in comparison to standard turmeric formulations.
N-acetylcysteine
N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is an N-acetyl derivative of the amino acid cysteine.
Carnitine
Carnitine is a conveyor of long-chain fatty acids to the mitochondria to produce ATP which is crucial in the body’s various biosynthetic reactions.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C protects cells from oxidative stress and contributes to the physiological formation of collagen for normal blood vessel function.
Zinc
Zinc intervenes in the process of cell division and contributes to protect cells against oxidative stress and to maintain normal vision.
Magnesium
Magnesium is a mineral that contributes to maintain electrolyte balance and normal energy-yielding metabolism.
Usage
Take 1 sachet per day, to be dissolved in a glass of water (about 200 ml).
